Incredible story. It sounds like a movie script.
WHAT ARE YOU LISTENING TO AND WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SAY ABOUT IT?
terminalsunset You ever listen to the Post Teens (act out of Gainesville)? They overlapped with early SAB stuff and sound not too dissimilar (maybe slightly tougher). But I mentally lump them, SAB, and Marked Men together: cool, listenable poppy (but not “pop-“!) punk.
Allez Al I'm checking them out next!
sixbigboys Not familiar! Thanks for the rec!
LE FACE - Isolation
Le Face sound like a maelstrom of wild and chaotic sounds, a mix between a punk scream and the rustle of a Dadaist artwork
classic:
this track is cool:
Johnny Sick I always thought these guys were hugely underrated.
Johnny Sick great band
terminalsunset Steve Adamyk discog today. For this style of guitar pop there's little else that comes close other than maybe Gentleman Jesse
Steve was on Termbore I believe. I was just listening to some Magnolias, so followed it with some Adamyk ("Third"). Definitely a few leagues above generic "pop-punk". Any band that puts out a full Ramones album cover album is disqualified immediately...
dunno how i stumbled across this, but been listening to this recent upload of this 1989 PSYCHONAUT tape... some gooood synth experiments, would make a good alt soundtrack to an og doom mod or somethin!
ratcharge I'd describe it as mid-tempo weird punk with some retro-futuristic effects sounding like they were stolen from some Sci-Fi B movie, but I wouldn't be sure who to compare it to. Maybe Flipper trying to play Devo-like ?
just goin back through this thread to see what i missed and this rules! thanks for sharing it alex (and hello!) cool to see steve peffer still bangin away at the bass.. such a big fan of homostupids, the cowboy etc.. met him at his record store once and bought all these homostupids 7"s, he said i had good taste and only found out weeks later he played in the band haha
BARELY HUMAN Hey Max, fun anecdote, never met these guys myself but always liked their weird sense of humor. BTW does anyone know if Anus (from OWAB/ Grabbies/ Folded Shirt etc) is still playing music?

One of the best Punk records of the '10s for me, easily

Also been playing this these days. Blows "Compton" out of the water in terms of production. Dre's work is mind-blowing, too bad for the shit lyrics

This afternoon :
BRAINBOMBS – Cheap
THE TEENAGE GRAVES – Hippies headhunt/ Drug crazed (Had totally forgotten about this one! Wild/ raw swedish garage single feat. Lanchy from Totalitär/ Brainbombs. Great band name, song titles and overall vibe. Guess I'd file it somewhere between GG & the Murder Junkies and The Reatards)

And to add to the Gimmie Sopor post, the guitarist of Teenage Graves also played guitar on the Brainbombs' "Anne Frank" and "Live at Rockall Oslo" 7"s. Those guys played Stooges better than anyone. Even the "Cheap" EP which is my least favorite Brainbombs release from the early stuff, is really good. Have to say, their last 3 LP's have not been as good as their previous records, but they had 2 new singles out the past years which were way better.
