WHAT ARE YOU LISTENING TO AND WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SAY ABOUT IT?
sicboy Ah yes, well it's exactly that.
But I find it very useful to discover new stuff - especially from the (user-curated) lists. There is a user I keep checking on, that seems to have been on Termbo. Maybe he is here too - great recommendations! https://rateyourmusic.com/~veryunoffensivehandle
They've put out one album, one 12-inch, two singles, and one split with Dva Damas, and they're all pretty damn great.
knives Niiice, had no idea this existed ️
The Massacred - Nightmare Agitators -- killer hardcore out of Boston. I was turned onto this from Sorry State's email blast.
sorry it doesn't embed
Johnny Sick have the lp and dva damas split. Both survived many record purges where I have sold a lot of stuff from that era
Inspired me to pull out some His Electro Blue Voice records who are of the same ilk
Working through those PostCards DIY comps. Vol 1 and 2 come out swinging but after that only handful of tracks spread out acoss the remaining volumes are scratching the itch
World domination enterprises. UK sludge /post punk. Ridiculous de tuned bass. Sits evenly with bogshed, walking seeds, membranes, terminal cheesecake.
Rusted shut early years vol 2. Don Walsh 4ever (just don't read his facebook)

ratcharge Sure!
Btw since we mentioned Brainbombs, there was a band from Greece (the country I live in) in the same style that was good. Already posted it in the "International Punk" thread, but here it is again. Out on a Delaware label I believe, but on cassette only. Worth checking out!
Guy Lombardont Rusted shut early years vol 2. Don Walsh 4ever
Have to get this too. Although I prefer them after Domokos joined - the Load LP is still my favorite
Been on a big Dirtbombs kick lately. Anytime I listen to them I want to listen to MC5 afterwards
the aforementioned Rusted Shut are also kinda Brainbombs adjacent iffin you have never had your ears pinbacked so...
Like very much at the moment the last Program LP :
Good vibes and reminds me strangely about the end of Beatles !
Like very much the "Act Natural" track that comes back in the last song again to close the game !
Currently listening to my favorite "drums & vocals only" song.
Also since this week is the "one different BRAINBOMBS album each afternoon at work" week, today is Cold Case.
New USA/MEXICO lp. Every release has less and longer songs. I'd imagine the next album will be one thud stretched out over 4 lps. The heaviest shit going and they hock a loogie in a otherwise tired formula.
Love- Forever Changes
I This hippie guy Bob made me a mix cd of a a bunch of pre punk stuff in my early 20s. An incredible cd that turned me onto so much stuff. Love '7 and 7 is" was on there and I absolutely loved it. I grabbed 'Forever Changes' on CD excited to hear more Love and absolutely hated it. Took me a long time to come around to it. I was an only Da Capo guy for a long time
ratcharge THE TEENAGE GRAVES – Hippies headhunt/ Drug crazed (Had totally forgotten about this one! Wild/ raw swedish garage single feat. Lanchy from Totalitär/ Brainbombs. Great band name, song titles and overall vibe. Guess I'd file it somewhere between GG & the Murder Junkies and The Reatards)
Speaking of Brainbombs, have you heard Driver? Solo project by Lanchy with an early Leather Nun/Action Swingers vibe. Released an EP last year.
Riskless Risk yeah theyre great. the first record is really good too. hopefully they come to the usa sometime soon
Gimmie Sopor Thanks, this rules! Didn’t know about it. This morning while doing the dishes I was listening to « When I die » by GG Allin, in which he says « scumfuck rock’n’roll » a bunch of times, and the term popped up in my head when playing this.
In other news tonight I’m listening to the album « Bye bye These are the days » by Kath Bloom, a classic of quiet nights smoking weed in my lving room. I’d say it’s great, heartfelt, melancholic but hopeful folk music.

Been wondering about the drums on 7 and 7 Is because they rule so hard.
Is that a specific “style” of playing? Where you just do a drum roll the whole time? Is that a jazz thing???
I notice bands doing this sometimes. Human Eye comes to mind specif.

Been digging this one hard. Comp of the Japanese underground made in 81 based on Morgan Fisher's comp of the same name. Some real artists, some are just Die Ă–wan performing under pseudonym. All around great listen.
General Speech killing it on these Die Ă–wan (& related) reissues

smudge Haven't listened to the comp much but as I said previously, that Die Owan stuff blew me away. "The esoteric roots of both Osaka noisecore and Egg Punk!" is my Roctober review. The early punk/new wave scenes in both Tokyo and Kansai (Osaka/Kyoto) deserve a detailed tome or two, in English.
Gimmie Sopor First someone mentions NED's book and now NED's band - ruh roh...NED might show up to sue that band and anyone on here who listened to it! Siriusly though, it is a great blast of primo grunge skree skronk a be bop straight outta 1993!

paging a real drummer
Randall HAIL ARTHUR LEE...been revisiting Da Capo much more lately. Also idk if I'm in the minority on this one but even the post-Forever Changes albums have been somewhat enjoyable for me personally (especially "Four Sail"). Also if you haven't seen the doc, I recommend it.

Gimmie Sopor have you heard Driver?
Nice 7", I think the tracks were drawn from an old session. Lanchy is a riff machine. The amount of fantastic riffs he wrote for Totalitar & Brainbombs is just insane.
ratcharge Bye bye These are the days » by Kath Bloom
This is really good! First time I'm hearing about her, although just seeing she released records with Loren Connors too. A good LP in kind of the same vein, was MJ Lenderman's record from the past year. Not the best lyrics, but the overall feel was very enjoyable I thought.

Yeah, it's from an old session. Lanchy confirmed this when I spoke to him after the Brainbombs gig in Copenhagen last year. He also said that newly recorded Driver material is coming out soon on a split EP with the main guy from Rat Cage, who has a similar side project. I like Rat Cage a lot so I really look forward to that.

Reminds me a bit of Bonny Doon (haven't listened to their more recent stuff but love their S/T album + "Longwave").
Gimmie Sopor split EP with the main guy from Rat Cage
Will have my ears open for this for sure
ratcharge Reminds me a bit of Bonny Doon
Didn't know about them, will listen to those too - thanks!

Nice - i dig pretty much anything Kath does. Her earnestness can feel like a relic.
Dave Shapiro who plays on this one and some others was/ is(?) part of the long running New Haven scene and records solo guitar records under Alexander on C/Site . Pleasant stuff, worth checkin' out if that up yr alley .
Listening to this lately - maybe also kinda melancholic but hopeful in a way as well even though not a clue what they're sayin' --

That first Bonny Doon album holds a really special place in my heart. Enjoyed “Longwave” a lot but didn’t really take to their latest album. Going to give it another try this week.
German Embargo's demo
Some listens over the past couple days-
Equipment Pointed Ankh - "Downtown" and "From Inside the House" - really dig this stuff, and can definitely hear the connection between EPA and the Ryan Davis and the Roadhouse Band record. I don't think my coworkers like it quite as much as me though.
Rock Candy 7" - Listened to this one only several times, really need a copy of the record. Great out there guitar from two top notch players.
The Green Child "Look Familiar" - Sounded amazing last night on a medium dose of mushrooms. "Easy Window" is a wildly great cut.
Randall very exxcited for this SHARP PINS LP. I've been liking everything Perennial Death has been putting out lately. Also how old is this kid?
He is 20
ratcharge Two of my faves.
I'm lucky enough to live in Melbourne and try to catch every Split System live show. They never fail to impress.
Fucking Mess is one fine slab of wax, but for me the A side of Obey is Brainbombs at their best.
