Common & Pete Rock - “The Auditorium Vol 1” this sounds best late at night. just laid back classic rap. nothing original but two masters doing what they do best. I like how both Pete Rock and Common have managed to age gracefully while making hip hop that still sounds purposeful. not an easy task.
Tonio K. - “Life in the Foodchain” I’m new to this guy. I like the album a lot. someone described it as Elvis Costello fronting the Voidoids. lyrics are way better than Costello though. the lyrics make the album. lots of cool literary references sprinkled throughout.
Blue Öyster Cult - “Cultosaurus Erectus” their best, most diverse record? I can listen to it front to back. lots of variety stylistically but it’s cohesive and flows
Miles Davis - “The Complete In a Silent Way Sessions” I think this is my favorite of all of his electric sessions. maybe peak Miles, in my opinion. you can still hear traces of the 60s quintet. it’s experimental but still sort of grounded. and his style was so cool in ‘68 and ‘69. it’s by far my favorite album cover of his. that photo adds so much to the overall aesthetic.
Sex Faces - “Bad Vibes OST” not much to say except it rules and has kept me coming back. I like them better than Des Demonas
Riverdales - “Tarantula” never heard this fourth album of theirs until now. I like bands that ripoff the Ramones. they do it the best. this one has some pretty creative chord changes while still retaining that Ramones style
