The new Personality Cult single, Shirese's Bsides EP, Heavy Mother II and a new slew of things these local teens, the Obliques, have not dropped on the general public yet (single on Hozac out soon.)
WHAT ARE YOU LISTENING TO AND WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SAY ABOUT IT?

All the eddy current talk got me pulling out my fave Australian stuff of the era. The In the red records were the gateway for me, and are great, but this is my fave statement of the band. The covers are perfectly tossed off and sincere and the sense of spontaneity through out is unfakable majesty

monstrous live recording, low fidelity but the power of Tyner's vox comes screeching through and his insane mic control is a highlight no doubt. Skronky sax adventures and the band's freeist momentum prevail. Masterful musical intuition throughout.

Two great French bands released their new records on friday, so today I'm listening while reading Annie Le Brun.
Also the new Siltbreeze release is great but that's a given.
Celine is taking it a bit too far (although I can sign along word for word to Une Colombe thanks to elementary school). Could get behind Mitsou or Jordy though.

I heard there’s a law in Quebec that if you don’t listen to her at least once a year you’re deported to the US.
Sometimes it's just about listening for something you never noticed?
also forgot this was spun too, seeing em live was great on both occasions but I hadn't listened on record and the energy and joy translates:

Totally. And I prefer it over the more well-known boots like "Saginaw Civic Center" and "Sturgis Armory". Here's a nice rendition of Fire of Love from the former too. The guitars at the end are fantastic:
Been listening to a lot of Kitchen’s Floor lately. Love that band. None of That is such a good record. I really dig it all though.
Some trashy proto-punk psych…

weird to think those whenever this is 90, 91 (this was on one of the singles) Greebo bands were influenced by The Stooges.
Recently I got into Pavement. Overall I've been checking a lot of what was the indie rock that I was alergic to it and I've been digging it a lot. Guided by Voices and Sonic Youth are two of my favourite bands nowadays, I did ignore them for years and they are so good. Pavement may not be that amazing but still they are great too, "Slanted and Enchanted" is in fact a very good album.
Say Yes To Apes 'Who's That' - Excellent set of note-spasms from the NZ class of '83. Hearing some Peter Jefferies' cadence in a bit of the vocal work, which has me speculating whether they were one of the bands who were purportedly inspired by all the Nocturnal Projections activity of the era. Did they even make it as far south as Dunedin (where this Ape band is from)?
Dransfield 'The Fiddler's Dream' - Real sturdy folk rock not unlike the Richard Thompson's stuff from the same era. Nary a sackbut or crumhorn to be heard either so it's probably a good place to land if yr picky with this kind of chuff.
Also, very cool to see Masami Kawaguchi teaming up with Kim Salmon. Looking forward to the rest of it:

Okay, quick development: just learned the Say Yes To The Apes singer/guitar man Kevin Smith had a recurring role in the 90s Hercules and Xena shows. Seeing this mugshot really stirred up some long repressed childhood memories...
Really enjoying the overlooked debut album by Still Animals, released last year by Slovenly. These days, when so many bands have some kind of post punk vibe, it's refreshing to encounter an act that plays straightforward rock'n' roll punk in the footsteps of Real Kids, The Heartbreakers and Lazy Cowgirls.
