(Unfortunate) diehard Padres fan. 2008-2011 was my peak baseball devotion: worked for the Mariners, had a decent grasp on every team's farm system, coached high school baseball. Then came weed and more punk rock distractions. So now it's just watching 60-75 games a year w/o knowing too much about anything significant outside the Padres' 40 man roster. For 2025, we're a cusp playoff team unless we add 1-2 quality starters. With Musgrove out for the year and Darvish being streaky as hell the more he ages, relying on Cease and King--both free agents after the season--to be rock steady for 30+ starts apiece with a B/B+ bullpen isn't promising. Offense is top tier but that can only do so much.

Mitch C. I love that MLB is in Sacramento, but I despise the circumstances under which it happened, so I am gonna be the Randy Quaid character from Major League at any game I go to.

regarding minor league, excited to see some syracuse mets games! they dedicated the first pitch to "frank" aka jim morrison haha. also im a jays fan.

I'm a Phillies fan. Excited they are (mostly) running the team back with a few new additions. I always think they can make a run for it and win it all (even when the team isn't great), but also it's a long season and anything can happen. The beauty of it all.

Baseball related: I got to see Eephus last night in a theater. Goddamn, what a love letter to the game and friendship and bonding. Absolutely recommend it if it's playing near you, especially if the theater has good sound.

Vinnie Vacuum Giants look good so far. Not getting my hopes up yet. .500 would be disappointing but with LA, SD and AZ going for the ring it's going to be a tough go. There's always the Rockies to beat on (knock on wood)

The Rays have been fun so far. Starting pitching has had 36 Ks/ and 1 walk in the first four starts. Jake Mangum has been really fun to watch these last few games. 11AB, 4 RBIs. I don't see him keeping this streak long term but a fun little story. Brandon Lowe is looking like he gets hot. Really hoping Junior Caminero works out. Not getting ahead of myself yet so far we've had series with the Pirates and Rockies, but loving having baseball back

Attended my first ever MLB opening day game last week in Phoenix. Was cool. Nice park.

Expectations are pretty low for the Jays this year, but I think that's good for them. They have a roster that theoretically could do quite well. Have only caught parts of the past 3 games but so far so good. Giminez looks great. I'm sure Santander will pick it up. Bo's off to a great start, as is Springer. Wagner and new guy Roden are looking pretty good too. Of course Scherzer is already hurt. They should have kept Yarborough.

Go Sox. I'm from New Mexico but had an excellent day at "Guaranteed Rate Field" with some South Siders and have been rooting for them ever since.

Al Dorado I agree, I'm very happy with what I've seen so far outta the Giants. Our division is interesting. Per usual, the Dodgers and Rockies are basically a nonstarter (albeit for opposite reasons), so SD and AZ are the main competition.

Vinnie Vacuum Giants game was a blast today. Great come back. Rays/ Angels game 9 runs all on homers. HAven't had as much time to watch baseball this week but still so glad its back!

Randall went to the game last night and was sorely disappointed by another shut out (not to mention the ATROCIOUS city connect uniforms) but they more than redeemed themselves today. glad we survived getting swept and that walkoff from yaz (who might i add is playing better than ever, always thought he was average) was maybe the most exciting part of the giants season so far. this is finally an exciting team to watch. that said i kinda wish it was jung hoo lee that got the walk off so he could hit for the cycle, but either way an amazing game and proof of this team's resilience.

Vinnie Vacuum those city connects are awful. on a positive note, i've been offered free tix for Brandon Crawford night. my wife isn't real into going though.
