Perfect summation.

Replacements took a while for me to appreciate. Let It Be and Tim have some amazing tracks but they're kinda uneven as records. But songs such as "Favorite Thing", "Unsatisfied", "Seen Your Video", "Sixteen Blue", and the whole second side of Tim (exc. Lay it Down Clown) are all classics in my book. Also, Tommy Ramone's production on Tim didn't exactly help too.

I'm pretty out of touch now but a long time ago when I was pretty in touch, everyone on the Goner Board was losing it over the first Gris Gris and I bought it without hearing it and thought it was horrible. I still don't like Gris Gris but now I do like the Greg Ashley solo records from the 2010's.

Look at most popular underground bands of the present day. Far cries from Sun City Girls or Royal Trux--they often rehash the indie rock/post punk
/diy sounds of the past in ever more digestible ways. Minutemen are not so easy listening which is why many of us here dislike. Modern band closest to minutemen is parquet courts?

11th hour stubble I wondered the same thing. Minutemen have been a longtime favorite. Seems like a lot of general SST hate around these parts, but Meat Puppets and Saccharine Trust are all-timers up there with Minutemen. And let's not forget St. Vitus either!

I too love the meat puppets and saccharine trust, as well as St Vitus. no sst hate here
