thread_killer Is this kind of artwork something bands do now? It is almost offensive to me! I don't know if that's intended, but I guess well done? I had the same with the artwork on that Quantum Dregz record, which I still haven't given a proper listen probably for this very reason.
As for the Grebs, the music sounds interesting, but I'm not on board with the vocals. Not yet anyways, I'll give it some more hears. Thanks for sharing.
Listening to Jean Grae a lot for the last week or so, her stuff before her last album with Quelle Chris, who apparently is her husband.
Also investigating some new jazz people. There's a new Lakecia Benjamin album, heard good stuff about this guy called Woody Brandon so I bought his latest album. I really loved Amaro Freitas when he played 'my stage' at a jazz festival. His band was having a great time, which rubbed off on me. Not sure how I feel about 'modern jazz', but at the very least it's great that it exists and keeps the genre alive and moving.
As for punk, I am still loving the new Unidad Ideologica. Best hardcore record in some time. The Faze 12" on 11PM is a good one too. Shame I didn't see them when they played here. Gave the Dust Collector 12" a shot. Dig the artwork. The music is probably good for what it is, but that kind of hardcore has never really been my bag. Maybe someday it will be.
And far from new, but the Neutrals Lp on Static Shock is easy on the ear. I enjoy listening to it a lot.
