The Cowboys - Captain Easy's Downfall LP [Feel it]
Cowboys emerged when I was reflexively unimpressed due to difficulty transitioning from know-it-all busybody to uninformed geriatric. Time's fault, and my own (mostly, duh), but there have been small efforts made to snap that chip. Cruised this one during it's long stream-only life, but have dug further in on LP. This feels way bigger and bolder than anything else outta them, yet retains the stoned earnestness that initially drew me in. I really want to visit The Midwest again.

Kugelberg's "No More Jubilees: Punk Before Punk" article from Ugly Things really knocked me out 20 years ago, (re)shaping my fixations for so many following years. I drooled embarrasingly, but it was my gateway to things like Lucifer, Hurriganes and so many more...like these, which I'm revisiting. Reason and hindsight grow as my lifespan decreases, so I can now rightfully tag Kalemaris as lesser-than in Kuge's grand hype scheme, despite their Alice Cooper look & flair. When you cut that fat, their power really doesn't meet most of what they're being lumped in with and the handful of choice moments really are just fine. Angel Face, on the other hand, stomps shit so thoroughly that they cannot be denied. France's take on Stooges worship seems to be more vicious than Australia's [Electric Manchakou? Tötenköpf? Soggy? Loose Heart? Dentist? C'MON! Killers all!] and Angel Face is probably the most worthy example front-to-back.
Non Plus Temps - Conditional Bunker LP [Siltbreeze]
Blabbed a lil' bit 'bout this a few posts up, but continued plays have only increased my admiration. Really is a big departure from Desire Choir --- far less on-the-nose On-U style, much more of a layered rhythm panic-groove...and a lot more punk-sounding. Total beast.
