This is one of the first albums I can remember getting into when I was a kid. My dad went through a UK dance-rock phase—it was this, Fine Young Cannibals, Big Audio Dynamite, and Jesus Jones—and for whatever reason it really spoke to 9-yr-old me. Anyway, not sure what prompted me to revisit it, but I’m surprised by how not-bad it is. Not punk, but not entirely un-punk either. Very 1991, though!

Randall hahaha, yes! That Jesus Jones record does not hold up! Sounds like U2 heard Screamadelica and was like “Oooh, let’s make one of those!” And “The Globe” sounds like proto-Sugar Ray.

Still, I would love to see the alternate future where Nirvana never got big and sample-based rock was the dominant sound of the 90s! I imagine every song would sound like this:
