Least Cool Album You Genuinely Love

Now that we know y’all’s Perfect 10s, what are some decidedly uncool albums that you genuinely love all the way through?

I feel like this is tough because things can become so uncool that they circle back around again. So, you kinda gotta hit the uncool sweet spot.

The two that came to mind for me are:

Robert Palmer - Clues
This is probably Palmer’s coolest record, but I don’t think that’s enough to outweigh the fact that it’s a Robert Palmer record. Exceedingly uncool. I love it.

Basement Jaxx - Kish Kash
Basement Jaxx make dance music for people who think Daft Punk is too out there. Two British dudes who love studio musicians and just want people to have a good time. This is their best album, and it features JC Chasez and Meshell Ndegeocello. I love every minute of it.

Lincoln do you like Crosby’s ‘If I Could Only Remember My Name’? I’m not into hippy shit either but that song Cowboy Movie is pretty dope. Crosby sounds like he’s hit rock bottom lol. I think Neil’s on guitar.

Nena - s/t. 99 Luftballons isn't even the second best song on the album. That'd be Kino and Nur geträumt. So good.

First four Eddie Money albums are great. Re Basement Jaxx: Remedy was HUGE for me. Red Alert and Rendez-Vu are total monster jams.

The Auteurs are pretty uncool. Glam-y Britpop like Suede, their first two albums rule.

First two Whodini albums are genuinely great. Magic's Wand is one of my favourite ever singles.

Al Dorado

Allez Al That Nena album is really good. I revisited it last year and was surprised how good it was.

Also, Elastica is uncool at all.

For me I'd say Belladonna by Stevie Nicks. That kind of stuff was forbidden and horribly uncool when I was younger.

Eddie Money, Whodini, Stereo MCs, Bryan Adams, mid-70s Yes double concept albums—now we’re talking!

Very very uncool but if you deleted “Four Sticks” which is a terribly boring song then Led Zeppelin IV would be a 10/10 record for me. It really just is so good.

Tales of Great Neck Glory by Sammy. Johnny-come-lately cynical Pavement-isms.... that I'd much more rather hear than Malkmus and his band of try-hards.

Lincoln pretty certain the only one worth fucking with is that first one because of the rawness of it. sounds like everyone involved is so blitzed that they barely held it together enough to flesh out a cohesive album. reminds me of that Dennis Wilson solo album. simultaneously beautiful and deeply unsettling.
