Ben Lyon I used to have a teacher, who was arguably a boomer, a term I hate as much as the term hipster, who'd start her classes with the line: 'be welcome.' It felt like being in a cult. She was over 60 and would fist bump everybody in the class before starting the lesson. She seemed to get a kick out of making students show their emotions, by which I mean make them cry: 'how are you really feeling?' in understanding tone as she'd lay her hand on your shoulder compassionately. I hated her with a passion, but she was grading me.
I think being old is not caring about what's new, knowing things said to be new have actually been done before and realizing that fix all solutions have always been mirages and will remain to be just that.
What can I say, I was schooled as a historian. I think we can learn from the past. The fact that everybody seems to think our day and age is not at all comparable to what happened before is ridiculous. People need to pull their heads out of their asses. Their heads and one track minds that consider watching a Youtube video 'research'.
If arguing for thinking straight and making sense means I'm old, sign me up for the retirement home. You'll find me proudly yelling at the clouds during bingo.
P.s. I don't think memes are funny mostly because I've never felt the need to give them any attention.
