I just re-read this and I feel like it should be better well known because it is as far as i know the only book about baseball and coke. The stories are incredible, it also loops in Dock Ellis, which is always appreciated since his claim to fame is the stuff of legend, and is brisk. There is a bit at the end tying the lack of drug testing to the steroid era (the book came out in 2010) that drags but it is mostly because the main story has ended.
