filthqueen666 I had Hermeto Pascoal on stage last year at a Jazz festival. His son played percussion in his band and did a squeeky toy solo. That's right, on the things dogs chew on. The band and crew were super friendly. I've seldom felt like the local crew and the visiting party were on the same team like that.
Right before the show Mr. Pascoal had to go to the bathroom - he is closing in on 90, which was not in the backstage area so me and the tourmanager trudged after him to the toilet in the audience area. On his way back someone started a conversation with him. Me and the tourmanager impatiently stood next to Hermeto as he took his time to talk. I think it made him start late.
The show was chaotic and fun. Some of these old jazz guys are a different breed, man.
