Martin Wall - Metaphysical Facelift LP [MW]
Wish this sounded as good as it looks, but here we have another installment in the endless 70s everyman electronic fuckery pantheon. Can't say this charts high, but worth a gander if you're an obsessive. Bonus points for being Canadian.
Celebrity Telethon - S/T LP [Self-Released]
Dig the font swipe from Robespierre's Velvet Basement. Spirited in a way that recalls The Dinosaurs or Heavy Mother II or even The Penetrators, only with some tumblin' tumbleweeds. Truthfully, these occasional kuntry twang jags lose me a tad, but shit thankfully stays loose enough to maintain interest. Admirable debut, quite tasteful.
DMZ - Lost Studio Sessions 1978 LP [Crypt]
Never hear enough yapping about DMZ. I fuckin' just absolutely LOVE 'em! Anyway, this demo session pumps quite hard and blitzs the Sire LP and even tops Relics in terms of punch/power. Worth it for the dueling takes of "Mighty Idy" alone --- goddamn! Crypt's Boston Punk raid nets another blast here, no duff moments. Complete with sick photos and cool, informative liners. I would eat this like a steak if I could.
Beach Boys - Sunflower LP [Brother / Reprise]
I've always had a soft spot for this & Surf's Up, a true bummer era for them. Dennis Wilson is very horny here (and everywhere else). Can ditch my 80s schlock copy for this Brother gatefold.
John Cale & Terry Riley - Church Of Anthrax LP
And all my other Cale LPs, really. Debatable if his solo run is better than Lou's, but this week I'm thinkin' yup. This occupies a special spot obvz, and it's so unbelievably sick when it hits. I got an old UK press and it sounds like a diamond.
V/A - The World Can't Stand Long LP [Cairo]
Most-spun LP of 2026 thus far, no shock there. If this really is the sequel to Anxious Color, then it rises to the stature of The Godfather Pt.II or The Empire Strikes Back, with all the original victories amplified and improved. The drill is busted garage, sometimes inept and sad, always off-center and provocative, assembled like a mix-tape made by your smartest and most thoughtful friend. Some - not all - tracks are known entities, but the entire suite hits super hard. A copy in every home, I say.
