Been on a big Syd Barrett kick lately (both Pink Floyd and solo), and dug up this live rarity from a British documentary about the emerging 60's London underground/counterculture (hence the narration) including an incendiary, protopunk-ish version of "Matilda Mother" with alternate lyrics and some pretty snotty vocal inflections. Also includes "Interstelllar Overdrive". Again, wish the narration wasn't there. I've found a few on YouTube minus the voiceover, but the quality is somewhat compromised.

filthqueen666 filthqueen666 Último Resorte, Attak, SHIT S.A. , Sentido Commun are all featured prominently in a oral history book about Barcelona punk (77-87) called "Harto de todo" - as far as I know it hasn't been translated to English. Cool photos and a great resource. I remember digging Els Surfing Surlees live (who played an event for the book when it came out) and I also loved Hello Cuca who were around in the early 2000s. If you haven't checked out Vulpes they are a big part of the story of Spanish punk because they got banned after playing live on TV early on. I think they covered Now I Wanna Be Your Dog and changed the lyrics to something like Now I wanna Be Your Slut - going by memory on that but I'm sure you can find it if you search. I am curious about current underground punk shit from Barcelona but haven't found much.

LP reissues of a couple cassettes. Total "closet mix" / in the same room sounds, recalling 3rd-LP VU at the center. Pop, but airy and delicate, slightly damaged, very memorable. Favoring Sunday, the best of the 3 LPs I've heard by them. An SF fave.

This is awesome. Noticed a discogs review lands it in the Trimble/Higney/Grudzien continuum which sounds about right.

I seem to mostly listen to old blues these days but a few fun things I've come across in my net trolling, courtesy of Japan:

This appears to be an early Rin Kotogawa band that also, maybe, has the bass player from Gaseneta in it (maybe???). That's the best I could do using google translate. I hope their name is a reference to the Masao Adachi film of the same name, but again, it could be google translate playing tricks on me.

Then there's this one. The cover says it all:

It's tempting to call this a 'shitty INU' given it's a much more commercial product from same label/year that did the INU LP. There's some real bangers on it though (how can you not like a song that goes 'I'M JUST BAD BAD BOY!"), plus a pretty cool instrumental that vaguely sounds like the Durutti Column to me. The kind of thing you'd ideally find for super cheap and end up listening to all the time due to its generic prowess.

I went down a Japanese rabbit hole a bit today also after being informed the 3/3 and Friction shared members - even though it's right there in Discogs, so I probably just forgot about it...First, if you have never heard 3/3 or Sanbun no San - it was quite a revelation to me when I first heard it:

Following other Friction member connections lead me to this band that I don't recall ever running across.

Fairly straight-ahead punk rock with an emphasis on the rock.
Looking for more info, I ran across a tweet from the mighty Mitsuru Tabata of Zeni Geva, Mothers Temple etc.
"Speed – Kiss-Off 81 - Suddenly got this urge to listen to it. The cutting volume is a bit low, so I crank it up quite a bit. Better to dip the treble a little and really boost the low end. Whoa, this is cool. Come to think of it, this was the rhythm section for E.D.P.S., right?"
Indeed it is, E.D.P.S. being the band of Friction guitarist Tsunematsu Masatoshi, who continued the dream motif:
