  • WHAT ARE YOU LISTENING TO AND WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SAY ABOUT IT?

"Discovered" Blue Orchids from Reading Brix Smith's book- formed when Martin Bramah left The Fall very early on - '79. Some tenuous similarities to The Fall but really spread out into its own thang especially as it was on again off again with various members but I have dipped into all periods and find it to be very compelling music.
Kinda reminds of Flying Nun stuff from around the same time.

paperhose Saw Angie in August 2024 in Sydney--amazing live set.

Didnt know they were doing solo stuff. Gotta check it out.

Speaking of aussie stuff, i can allways go back to this record.

Gonna go on a long Evan Dando/Lemonheads spree today. Some of the best guitar pop ever penned. Saw this recently and was unfamiliar — love Dando reading the lyrics on tv like a true pro.

Joe Gibbs & The Professionals - African Dub Chapter Two LP
Count Ossie & The Mystic Revelation Of Rastafari - Grounation 3xLP

Bay Area shoppes have seemingly struck the motherload / gone on a reggae raid. Managed to nab these Jamaican OGs and am now suffering from a severe case of couchlock.

V/A - East LP
Latest UK regional DIY/Punk comp added to the pile [this one's Lincolnshire]. Plenty have already absorbed this shite via turn of the century blog downloads, but I only recently dove into this sea and am stacking these comps with ferocity. Familiar names here [The Cigarettes, Pseudo Existors] but don't let that dissuade you.

Osamu Kitajima - Benzaiten LP
Figured since I'm close to 50 and an asshole, I should probably have a copy of this.

Happy Mondays - Hallelujah 12"
Wearing a big hat that makes me look like Toad from Super Mario. An incredibly skinny nude woman sleeps in a folding chair on my smoking terrace. I'm eating cold fries with brown sauce and will likely die by morning. Huzzah.

Mitch C. Count Ossie & The Mystic Revelation Of Rastafari - Grounation 3xLP

Huge fan of Count Ossie. Tales Of Mozambique Is probably my favourite ever reggae album. Well, tied with Scientist Rids the World of the Evil Curse of the Vampires.

I don’t have many CDs in my car & I couldn’t get my Bluetooth to sync up so it’s been A Love Obscene but especially this track

Just got this new release by a local experimental musician reccomended. "Loop-based yodeling with strong homoerotic undertones". Two trakcs in and enjoying so far...

So far this morning at work before anyone else has showed up to commandeer the stereo-

RMFC - “Club Hits” - I don’t know much about egg punk or think I liked it, but I like this. And they were fantastic at Gonerfest.

Heavy Mother II - kind of hard to go wrong here, this record really lines up for me. Love it. Dig the far out moments that to me evoke Hawkwind(flute). Which lead me to….

Hawkwind - “Live at the BBC” - such a killer collection of cuts from the band at the peak of their power.

      The Walthamstow Zeros

Mystery_Ship RMFC - “Club Hits” - I don’t know much about egg punk or think I liked it, but I like this. And they were fantastic at Gonerfest.

yeah I got to see them on the west coast twice and was really blown away. Great band and a killer LP

While they great egg punk debate rages on I'm over here trying to figure out if my mother was a punk or not?

COUNTER INTUITS - Sheets Of Hits
      COUNTER INTUITS - Monosyllabilly
The Counter Intuits sound like a lo-fi sonic collage, a dusty vinyl skipping between crooked guitars and lurching rhythms. Ron House’s voice is a visionary rasp leading the chaos with odd coherence, like a pirate radio station broadcasting from a parallel universe.

        • The Gories - The Shaw Tapes. I mean, what needs to be said.
        • The Bobbyteens - Cruisin' For a Bruisin'. I don't know why always assumed this would be pony considering the personal what are on it. It's class, and I'm a fool.
        • Lauer - Answers 2 Trouble. It's like an Italo New Order. Spirited, super catchy and probably to the tastes of no-one else here. Hell, I don't listen to much that sounds like this. Lauer's great though. He was in that thrashcore band Destroyer in the 00s.
        • The Spells - The Age of Backwards. It's Mary Timony and Carrie Brownstein. A precursor to Wild Flag, good indie stuff.
5 Deadly Venoms of Brooklyn mixtape. An all-timer. Tony Touch, Evil Dee, PF Cuttin', DJ Premier and Mister Cee all kill it.

This record was tucked away in my dad’s collection and profoundly upset me when I was a kid. As a deeply disturbed adult I very much have been digging it lately.
