WHAT ARE YOU LISTENING TO AND WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SAY ABOUT IT?
Emil M. Antonowsky When this album came out I was living in Melbourne and one of my roommates was this big quiet guy with a beard who reminded me of a lumberjack. He was a grindcore fan and that's all I knew – nice enough bloke, but didn't talk much, at least not with me. One night, I came home after seeing Circle Pit play a great show, so I was all excited (and most likely drunk), and he asked me where I was, so I told him. "Do you know this band Circle Pit ?", I said. "They were fucking amazing tonight". Somehow I think I'll never forget his reply : he stared at me like I had lost my mind and, with this really flat/ cold/ psychopathic voice, he looked me in the eyes and said, "Man, this band embodies everything I hate the most in music, and about the world in general." Ok bro, good night!
ratcharge Haha! Can totally imagine this kind of grind freak aussie. Probably not your average Rupture fan listening to Circle Pit.
While on tour down under with De Høje Hæle in 2011 we played this open air festival with Circle Pit and The Oh Sees on line up. Don't remember much of their show thou, unfortunately.
Emil M. Antonowsky This is an amazing album. I sort of remember their myspace page had a louder sounding version of another trick. Saw Angie in August 2024 in Sydney--amazing live set.

Was listening to the s/t 7" tonight actually. Great band. Definitely bought from Lammie's Don't Buy Records distro on the strength of his write-up.
Missed this, posted some months back- Spatulas!
Heart Full of Sorrow is a fantastic album and I think I forgot or never knew that you put out the YJ stuff. Amazing!
Creteens rule so hard. This one's a fave: "Enjoy Your Life"
Burn the school, kill the teacher!
I have a funny Benji story I'll share with you someday if I get a few too many soda waters in me.
Nathan Loud yeah those creteens singles are great. When he first got to Florida he was completely freaked out by lizards and would freeze in his tracks anytime one would cross his path on the sidewalk, which is pretty constant. Benji stories always crack me up so would love to hear them. We haven't talked in a long time. Been thinking about him a lot lately and need to reach out.
I need to also truthfully say that this jam is the shit.
Why has it not been sampled by all the hip hop legends!?!?
"Discovered" Blue Orchids from Reading Brix Smith's book- formed when Martin Bramah left The Fall very early on - '79. Some tenuous similarities to The Fall but really spread out into its own thang especially as it was on again off again with various members but I have dipped into all periods and find it to be very compelling music.
Kinda reminds of Flying Nun stuff from around the same time.
paperhose Saw Angie in August 2024 in Sydney--amazing live set.
Didnt know they were doing solo stuff. Gotta check it out.
Allez Al Awesome, thanks! And yeah, what would we do without Lammie!
Speaking of aussie stuff, i can allways go back to this record.
Gonna go on a long Evan Dando/Lemonheads spree today. Some of the best guitar pop ever penned. Saw this recently and was unfamiliar — love Dando reading the lyrics on tv like a true pro.

Bay Area shoppes have seemingly struck the motherload / gone on a reggae raid. Managed to nab these Jamaican OGs and am now suffering from a severe case of couchlock.

Latest UK regional DIY/Punk comp added to the pile [this one's Lincolnshire]. Plenty have already absorbed this shite via turn of the century blog downloads, but I only recently dove into this sea and am stacking these comps with ferocity. Familiar names here [The Cigarettes, Pseudo Existors] but don't let that dissuade you.
Osamu Kitajima - Benzaiten LP
Figured since I'm close to 50 and an asshole, I should probably have a copy of this.
Happy Mondays - Hallelujah 12"
Wearing a big hat that makes me look like Toad from Super Mario. An incredibly skinny nude woman sleeps in a folding chair on my smoking terrace. I'm eating cold fries with brown sauce and will likely die by morning. Huzzah.
