Mystery_Ship With the mention of Brace Beldon, I have to recommend this episode of "Guys". Each episode is about a different kind of guy and they have Brace on to talk Rockabilly Guys. Highly entertaining.
Definite listening for tomorrow
yeah this sounds sick. Like Nathan Loud said you have a library card? If yes, you have Libby for audiobooks and the greatest movie streaming service currently out there, Kanopy, for free. I just listened to 40 hours of Stalin: Paradoxes of Power, 1878-1928. Not the best one to listen to casually in the background. Only real thing I can recall is dude liked to fuck.

The library system I work for does Libby and Hoopla. My girlfriend's library does kanopy...but for me, inter library loan is where it's at!
I love audiobooks to the point where I trained for multiple marathons at least somewhat as an excuse to listen to as many as I could. I don’t have any specific recommendations—what’ll click with folks is too subjective—but I’ll second the recommendation for Libby and Hoopla—incredible resources! The other thing I’d recommend is to fuck around with the speed in whatever app you use. It took me a while to figure out that the narrator is super important to the overall experience, and the speed at which they read is one of the more important variables. That being said, if anyone is looking specifically for books about the Cold War or espionage in general, I’ve got recommendations all day!
I listened to this too and loved it. He can look someone in the face and know whether or not they've ever milked a cow.
I will revise my earlier statement about not listening to fiction as an audiobook. One strong exception is Werner Herzog's novel (which he narrates) called Twilight World. It's good.

I selectively enjoy Turned Out A Punk episodes...I used to listen to tons of comedy podcasts back when they first started blowing up (late naughts) but am basically down to Improv4Humans and Never Not Funny...I pay for YT Premium mostly to be able to stream with a locked screen because I listen while walking about not while working. Mostly Man United content and geo-politics
Sukebe_GG on geopolitics, have you listened to the Multipolarity podcast? really good analysis of world events that doesn't get reported through the standard channels, under the themes of 'the multipolar world order'. The hosts are economists and are on the button with all the different movements in the global economy. sometimes they skew slightly socially rightwards at times which can be annoying, but not much else out there like that one that I've heard
BARELY HUMAN Yes- I am subbed but don't listen to it that much because it overlaps with other stuff I follow and yeah, I hear you about their rightward tendencies...
I listen to podcasts as I walk to/from work and when I walk my dog. Some favourites:
- Ear Hustle. Made in San Quintin Prison. Each ep is about a different facet - cell mates, food, whatever.
- You Don't Know Mojack. Punishingly in-depth look into the SST catalogue. I love it, most sane people should probably pick and choose eps.
- Rock Writ. All about music writing, mostly zines. Eric from Goner was interviewed in one ep.
- Killed by Desk. About the day jobs of punks. It's finished now but always enjoyed it.
For some reason I don't like listening to music as I walk around.

Currently listening in the car to Complete Sherlock Holmes as narrated by Simon Vance. I read all of it in Russian when I was a kid, but thought this would provide hours and hours of great entertainment and I was not wrong.
Backlisted podcast is a fave - A bunch of folks sit around and talk about books. The Octavia Butler Episode got me into it.
The Jazz Real Book Dude goes through the Real Book song by song and profiles an artist known for playing that song, breaks down the song's arrangement, and then plays that artist and an alt version of the song. I have learned some interesting things. We tend to skip the interviews.
Allez Al there are 7 interviews in the mjoaxk sunstaxk too. that will be next week's listening.
The Discord one isn't as good for me. I have listened to 2 episodes and the hosts sound like they are announcing a live surgery. kind of dry and boring.
the Pleasent Gehman podcast Devil's Music is really good too. I have only listened to the Falling James episode, but plan on checking out more
