Henry's Dress stands the test of time better than almost any group from that era. Members left ABQ for the Bay and joined the Aisler Set, Coachwhips, Sick Alps, Go Sailor and more

These three sisters only released one record as Psychodrama before changing their name to The Eyeliners. They went on to Sympathy For the Record Industry, Lookout!, and even Joan Jett’s label Blackheart (which I hear is not great).

Let's not forget about The Rondelles. More than Sacred of Chaka or even The Shins, I would've bet that the Rondelles would break out of ABQ and take the world by storm.

Probably my favorite of the bunch. The CLBs were from El Paso, but they moved to ABQ in the mid 90s. They were closer to my age and they were a little more punk than the rest. We used to talk about Dead Boys and Johnny Thunders records for hours, which wasn’t really the norm back then. Real kindred spirits.

I got caught wearing a Scared of Chaka shirt at a party recently and heard some very good stories from back in the day. They were a super fun live band. They used a lot more fuzz pedal than their pop punk contemporaries, which is to their credit.

One time I saw them at a drag bar is SF. I think it was free if you were in drag.

Love the Rondelles too. Underrated. Never saw them during their first go round but caught a reunion show at Mosswood Meltdown a couple of years ago.
