Okay, something a bit more contemporary: in the early/mid 2010s there was a pretty musically diverse scene in Berlin making kinda jazzy, kinda hip-hop lo-fi house. One of the leading lights of this scene was a producer called Max Graef - he formed Max Graef Band as a side project to his (very good) house records which was somewhere between disco and jazz-fusion.
They later morphed in to Torben Unit and it shifted to a more Kraut feel, keeping the groove but losing some of the energy
Max's dad (Gerry Franke, who was in the band Freygang who were kinda psych-blues stuff) plays in the band, his solo stuff is all psychedelic experimental guitar jams, certainly sits more in the Krautrock wheelhouse than anything American.
Torben Unit finally morphed into 2Morph (pun intended) which is less focused and more experiment, there's some dub in there too.
