almost started a spinoff thread, but figured I’d keep it here:

someone mentioned a Dictators record—which I haven’t heard—but it got me thinking about which other first wave punks put out good-to-great records this century? I know Sonny Vincent did a lot of cool stuff. TV Smith remained interesting. any other specific records you can think of?

It was me! That record rules.

I like The Dolls' One Day It'll Please Us To Remember Even This but it's certainly not on par with their original output. The David Johansen and the Harry Smiths record is fantastic but it's all blues, not sure if you're only looking for punk stuff. Javier Escovedo from The Zeros put out two GREAT power pop/rock n roll records this century. I also dig I Used To Be Pretty by The Flesh Eaters.

I’ve always found it tricky to make rankings or lists, since I inevitably end up forgetting some records that really deserve a mention. One band I’d love to highlight is the Counter Intuits: they released two fantastic albums – Sheets Of Hits and Monosyllabilly – along with a killer 7'' on Total Punk, yet they hardly ever get brought up
