Allez Al Going to see Devo and The B-52s in Manchester this coming weekend. I've seen The B-52s before but it'll be the first time for Devo. Managed to get a cheap ticket,w ere originally £100ish, got one for £30. Rezillos and Lene Lovich supporting. Just around the corner from probably my favourite pub in the country, the Marble Arch. Bucketlist band.
Allez Al Well, Devo were everything I wanted them to be. B-52s were a lot less entertaining than seeing them pre-covid. But Kate's 78 and she's the most energetic member so it's to be expected. Apparently they switch headline spot nightly so verrrry happy I didn't have to see them follow Devo.
Allez Al Saw The Dickies last night. the sound wasn't quite right (the drums were super loud, very hard rockin') but cannot fuck with Manny, Moe & Jack, (I'm Stuck In a Pagoda With) Tricia Toyota, Waterslide etc. Was fun and didn't go on too long. Interested to read Leonard's autobiography also.
Al Dorado Saw These Cursed Hands from PDX tonight. Death metal band. Not my usual thing but they were really fun. Singer climbed all over things and ran around getting into people's faces. The energy was off the charts. Hard to dislike a band giving a performance for 40 people.

Al Dorado Went to ZZ Top with Cheap Trick opening on Saturday. Friend had an extra ticket so hell yeah I went (great seats too). Cheap Trick were good but the sound was a bit distorted. Played the hits but no 'Southern Girls' (boo!). ZZ Top put on a great show. Frank Beard wasn't with them so it was Billy G, their new bass player and a drummer who no one recognized. Pretty cool stage setup. Nudie suits (or similar). Played all the hits you'd want to hear, a couple of deep album cuts and only one or maybe two new ones.
Emil M. Antonowsky The Bats were really good. Since then i had the chance to go see Århus punk legends Slængs and last week i went on a last minute trip across the water to see Toody and her band. Did'nt expect much but went home happy. Next up is The Rebel plus a bunch of locals. Feeling spoiled.
Allez Al Saw Jack White last week. Didn't pay, was on the guestlist for doing some work for Third Man. He had an incredible guitar tone, his songs do very little for me. The hottest gig I've ever been too, not sure how I made it to the end. Watching how into his (rabid) fans are was enjoyable. All-in-all glad it was free but glad I got to see something I ordinarily wouldn't. Livin' like a normie.
Clif thread_killer Last time I saw Emily Robb, Richie was playing keys. is this different from that, or did they just rename themselves? It was a great set too, btw.
thread_killer Clif He’s playing drums in Two Hearts. I’ve seen some footage and it was great. Really excited to have them come through.
