Schizophonics last weekend at BotH in SF. Wild live show, as always.

Had tickets for Adrian Sherwood tonight but he cancelled his tour a few weeks ago. Applied and paid for visas six months ago and never received approvals or a rejection. Just.. in the void I guess. He said he hopes to tour here in 2027. The venue refunded the tickets but still a bummer.

Allez Al Haha. Yeah, hard pass on that/him for me even if he was plugged in/with a band.

Milo’s set was very sweet though. Dude doesn’t take it seriously at all, just bangs shit out and makes a funny face and keeps going when he flubs it. Best part might have been when he had his daughter and her band join him on stage they all could play his favorite of their songs. Very glad I took my uke allergy meds and went.

Was at a "TBA" show at my local dive bar last night. Not going to mention the band name but it involved spelling "funk" with a "ph". Good musicians but Not My Thing. The sax player needs to work on his stank face when the other people are soloing. The other members had the stank face down.

Anyway.. bought tix for Useless Eaters + Tina!!! show a couple of weeks before the Retreat. Should be fun.

11th hour stubble

Saw that band Bullseye that ever/never has an LP coming out for. I thought they were pretty cool, close to the top for the current wave of indie/power pop youngsters cause they actually rocked and didn’t play dress up.

Caught a bunch of semi-local punk bands recently. From San Jose, Santa Cruz, Watsonville (and one from L.A.) at the SoFA Street Fair last weekend and the Caravan Lounge. Good live rockin' but nothing mind blowing.

Only touring band this month was Remember Sports at Rickshaw Stop (SF). Their first album is around 10 years old. Their early stuff I'd group with other Philly-based fem-fronted punky indie pop bands: Cayetana, Swearin', Chumped. RS latest album is more indie than punk - getting into the Waxahatchee / Wednesday / whoever else type of stuff. Enjoyed the show, wish it had more energy if that makes sense. Fine, but probably won't go out of my way to see them again.

Next up: Useless Eaters/TINA!!! in SF then the Corporate Retreat. Booked a place to stay last week so I'm all set.
