I saw the Cramps once and this lady jumped up on stage and started dancing around. He let her stay up for the rest of the song. Song finishes and she is standing on the edge of the stage waving to the crowd. She’s really taking in the moment. Lux starts introducing the next song and says “this song is about someone who goes to the art museum and doesn’t look at the pictures.” He kicks her in the back with his stiletto, she falls off the stage, and they go into “Naked Girl Falling Down the Stairs.”

Uptown ruler 666 420 GG's definitely has some gold on "Hated in the Nation" banterwise. "Anybody want a shawt? A shawt o'rum" always made me chuckle for some reason even if it's not the most extreme example.

Maybe this belongs under audience banter/heckling but when I saw the Celibate Rifles in 2008 or so, vocalist Damien Lovelock introduced a Rose Tattoo cover with, "This band put out one great album followed by a bunch of shitty ones..."
I yelled, "Don't they all?!"

Sukebe_GG A girlfriend and I tried to heckle Lee Ranaldo at a Sonic Youth show in the mid-90s. We were walking up to the venue (in Chicago) and saw Lee hop out of a taxi then quickly head to the back of the building. He was carrying a nice department store bag (Blair's? I think). We were leaning on the barrier a few feet from the stage and kept trying to get Lee or Thurston to acknowledge us. "Lee shops at Blairs!" " Lee! What'd you buy at Blairs?" just dumb shit. Pretty sure they heard us but they didn't acknowledge us. Gave up after a couple songs. An unsuccessful heckle.

This may not exactly be a banter, but Miles Davis playing with his ass to the audience the whole time he played, and then telling us to “shut up” while we clapped in between songs was pretty outrageous.

Ben and Sean from Hard Skin deliver good stage bantz. They played after Thee Spivs at the Damaged Goods Xmas party 2010. First thing Sean says is:

"oiii someone needs to call theeee spivs and tell em it's not 1977 anymore. not bad for a clash cover band but it's our fucking turn now, time for some real fucking punk"

and tries starting a song. Ben refuses to play, telling the soundman he needs less ego in his monitor.

-Trent telling a guy up front moshing with his skateboard at a Mummies Boogaloo set "cool you are moshing with your transportation. this is like if I were to mosh with my Honda Civic."
-At Debach-a-Reno, during the Oblivians set, Greg was on drums for a few songs in the middle, including "The Leather." After the second chorus, Jack and Eric are sorta waiting for Greg to come back in, but he's back there stretching and shit, and then turns to Jack and casually says "Hey, you mind if we switch back to me on guitar? my back is acting up." A puzzled Jack then says, "....Yeah, can we finishing the song though?"

I've always really loved Orville Neeley's banter on the OBN IIIs Live in San Francisco album. "There's a bunch of people who look like shit tonight, you should all be ashamed of yourselves! Especially you people up in the balcony -- I bet you all look like shit! I bet you're all wearing terrible ugly clothing!" while the band vamps is classic.
