Johnny Sick I knew their German version. Great band Thee Spivs.

Hah yeah I thought you might. Yeah top band and great guys too, the real deal.

Staying on topic, I’m currently spinning And Now… , the fantastic funk/soul compilation by Texas’ own TSU Toronados.

Fun fact: in 2001, Watch for Today by The Now Time Delegation — Tim Kerr’s (Big Boys) project—was released with a cover that was a clear tribute to the TSU Toronados' compilation

I THINK most people here might be familiar with this. It's basically a 2020 compilation of Desert Blues that were originally shared/distributed via texting each other in Whatsapp. A spiritual successor to that comp of desert blues that was distributed via Bluetooth.

Here's a playlist of volume 1 of the Bluetooth comps:

Big fan of classic era dub, this is probably my favourite LP, maybe a basic choice but a masterpiece
    [

Mystery_Ship it's a classic for a reason! Some decent Russian quasi-official reissues of that one and some other Scientist LPs came out within the last few years....worth tracking down

sicboy scored a couple Greensleeves Scientist records including this one years ago from a friend of my parents clearing out there records. For the nice price of free!

Mystery_Ship jealous! The latest Greensleeves versions all but removed Scientist from the layout except for a small mixing credit

sicboy I really dig a lot of the stuff the Pressure Sounds label releases. Pretty solid level of quality across their releases. This LP is a banger.

saw scientist in november. he was great. sister nancy headlined (fine, but went too long).
btw, scientist's discogs page has a phone number for booking.

anything on pressure sounds or blood and fire (rip) were must buys

Listen to lots of dub , dancehall and contemporary Jamaican tunes on internet radio, especially when Mrs YenAgain is round (she don't dig too much "heavy" music).
We really both really enjoy it, and I kinda like listening to music I don't know much about and haven't obsessed about since I was 15.

Best Lee Hazlewood song. One chord!

DJ Alice Wonder I love them. Saw ELO in 2019 and was one of the best shows Ive ever seen

Anthony Moore. Island and Virgin were the labels to watch in the mid-'70s.

CCR most definitely rules. I've had "Commotion" in my head hard the last few days.

              Al Dorado

Definitely digging this label! Thanks for the recommendation.

Playing lots and lots of non-punk nowadays, which I hope changes quite soon. Specializing in almost any side-long bullshit as of late, which is fine if all you do is sit/rot. 2 notable exceptions:

Misha Panfilov. Particularly “Days As Echoes”, though there are many other worthy entries (some even carried on occasion by Total Punk).

Little Roy “Tribal War”. Choice recent reggae reissue.

I realize everyone is entitled to an opinion…and that opinion is that CCR is straight-up wonderful.

Mitch C. as @paperhose had mentioned I have the habit of calling everything I listen to punk as well but most of my recent listening hasn’t been of the standard punk variety. Misha Panfilov’s catalog is huge and varied. I like a lot of it but the Sextet records are my favorite.
I also thought you were about to trash talk CCR. You got me

DJ Alice Wonder Gimmie Sopor I loooove this song! So crazy it didn't end on the album!

Time isn't ELO's best album, but it's pretty good in a cheesy 80s kind of way, despite the absence of July (who doesn't live here anymore). Fortunately I recently found the Twilight/July Don't Live Here Anymore 7" for peanuts at a nearby flea market, so I'm sorted.

Gimmie Sopor Time is actually my fav album of theirs 😉 Yours Truly?! Doesn't get any better!! Although I may be alone in that opinion....

I like a lot of house, techno and electro-adjacent things. One of my favourite producers is Actress - his music is ostensibly techno but it's increasingly non-dancefloor focused. He pans channels a lot, which is something that'd usually make the musical pet hates thread but I like it in his tracks. His music sounds like the ghosts of a dancefloor being photocopied but unseen.

Allez Al if we had likes, I would like this. Actress is great.

I am 45 years old and I still pick records based on how cool the album cover is. Cumbia versions of Japanese folk songs.

Rediscovered this one recently. Used to have the CD but sold it. It's getting a 20th anniversary reissue this year.
Post-hardcore w/ prog, metal and screamo tendencies. Yeah, that's generally a description that would keep me away but in this case I like it.

Al Dorado If this is the 'screamo' Gospel, I think they did some reunion shows as well

Been digging this comp series. 70's soul rarities with all the Jazz & Afro-Cuban influences you could ask for.

moodymcphatter Agreed! Also Serge's Histoire de Melody Nelson is such a treasure of an album.

                        16 days later

Definitely hit up the liner notes on this one. Talks of droughts and splinter militias. Good Lord.
