What can I say about The Genetics?
We were still a bunch of kids stuck in a sleepy little college town in North Idaho. There was nothing going on and if you weren't burnt out on studying to graduate and finish college, you would make your escape plan to leave the state and never come back. Moscow Idaho was a weird mish mash of liberal hippies and conservative red necks. Then there were the fringe kids who wanted to blow off steam and fuck shit up. I guess we fit into that category. The Genetics came together as a band after the ashes of our previous bands fell apart or moved away. We were genetically engineered from the D.N.A. of Jetpack, The Pills (later Real Pills), VIC-20 and Jimmy Flame & the Sexy Boys. In the short time as a band, we managed to play a bunch of shows, record these songs and then disappear into the ether. Punk rock was something we all loved but was for the most part nonexistent in our area, aside from a few bands that would play pretty much anywhere between Moscow Idaho and Pullman Washington: We played parties, coffee shops, bars, your back yard, you name it. Spokane Washington was considered the BiG CITY! if you had a show there, then you were really making it man. We even played one basement party show in Portland Oregon (Thanks Lopez!). These songs are proof we existed. We played, we partied, we screamed, turned up loud, and had a blast doing it. Glad we had the chance to spread our D.N.A. around the Palouse Empire!
