WHAT ARE YOU LISTENING TO AND WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SAY ABOUT IT?
Been spinning High Rise Disturbance Trip Live a lot. Great tracklist and it sounds fantastic. The packaging, on the other hand, is the stupidest thing I've seen in a while. Waiting for this gatefold/window flap to tear every time I open it.
Have been on a Low Life kick as well, partly inspired by the Barely Human book. I don't know if I'd just checked out at the time or didn't give it enough attention, but From Squats to Lots has really clicked for me recently.
Die Öwan - Mikawa Ken-Ichi lp
Submissives - Live at Value Sound
cell\borg lp

Decided to spin these recent GBH reissues. A band I've certainly "known of" and known Sick Boy (not where my internet handle is from tho!) But these recent ones from PNV are really well done, so I took the plunge and they sound really great.

been floggin the BAD ANXIETY EP and liking it a lot.. love a good diss track and there are at least two here, one mocking the small town kid moving to the big city, the other about mosh moves. Band/ solo project by Hampton Martin from Hattiesburg, Mississippi -- we stopped through there when touring with BB & THE BLIPS in 2018 and I coudn't believe how sick the town was, nor the lengths that the Hattiesburg crew went to to make the show fun... whole gig opened with a three local band battle royal for the right to headline the show after the Blips which was one of the funniest most bent shows I've ever been to... been in love with that town ever since and BAD ANXIETY distills that energy perfectly! hopefully some of the 7"s make it over to Australia, it rules!
Die Kreuzen “October file”
Discharge “HNSNSN”
Surface of the Earth s/t
Mark Carmody “Tuesday Wednesday”
Testicle Hazard “Kiki & Kastor”
Anyone else listening to Anadol ? Been playing this one every couple of days for the past few weeks :
A bit less audacious/ psychedelic/ varied than Uzun Havalar and Felicita (some of her other records) but everything she touches is gold IMO.
UZI RASH - I Was 30 In 2012
A raw and spontaneous sound vortex. The tracks seem to be captured in a world of intentional imperfections, where every sound leaves a mark, like old photos telling broken stories.
the birds won so im playing the latest 2nd grade, shakane's "love machine," and the new motorbike lp
Just listened to this after getting an email from Fashion Pimps And The Glamazons advertising it :
I'd describe it as mid-tempo weird punk with some retro-futuristic effects sounding like they were stolen from some Sci-Fi B movie, but I wouldn't be sure who to compare it to. Maybe Flipper trying to play Devo-like ?
"Hello!! Check out this new trippy record:
PEER PRESSURE ZOMBIES “Screen on the Green” (self released)
◦ Twisted cosmo acid punk from Cleveland, Ohio. Noah Depew laser beams his psycho destrukto synthesizer ooze and putrid electric guitar through the Helios Creed butthole. Janet Yellen plays machine-like humorless drum patterns conjuring deep robotic hypnosis. Steve Peffer hammers 3 bass strings like flies on shit and sings about stuff everyone can relate to: Whole Foods bathrooms, spying on neighbors, being stalked by physical therapists, belittled by psycho analysts, and the addictive allure of Glendale, California. It’s not RAMONES. It’s also not KRAUTROCK. Nothing really is. Are YOU a PEER PRESSURE ZOMBIE??? 100 copies. Screen printed jackets. Hand stamped labels. One swear word. "

Yeah! Got a couple of her albums. Just ordered this collaboration with Marie Klock (check out MK's solo records if you haven't already, also great)

Sounds cool. I get Gary Wrong vibes
Never really checked Gary Wrong, guess I probably should.

Yeah I've heard this one too! Great great great.
I've listened to this Marie Klock album, which I couldn't not do given its perfect cover :
Not 100% sold so far but I wanna give it more listens. Are there "better" ones I should check out?

Mostly listened to her first album from 2020, which I like quite bit. She got a thing for nasty cover art
I also love that Workers Comp record, but another Ever/Never release from last year I dug hard was that Stylianos Ou & the Cortisol Cows record -- Fucked Forever
The kind of shambolic art-damaged Americana that I've always been drawn to. Has a kind of Drag City vibe to it, a bit like a peppier more vulgar Bill Callahan.
Gimmie Sopor Sounds cool. I get Gary Wrong vibes
I love Gary Wrong's discography. I don't remember where I read that a new record release from him was imminent.
Les Rallizes Denudes 'YaneUra Oct. 80' LP... first of these 'official releases' I've ponied up the cash for and it's already my favourite 'headphone' record I own.
Jim Shepard 'Picking Through the Wreckage With a Stick'... old favourite was very glad to see get a reissue (thanks Zaius tapes!).
I passed out on my lazyboy listening to Dolphy's 'Out To Lunch' last night.
Johnny Sick Gary Wrong was great. so was pretty much everything Chad did: Wizzard Sleeve, Mangina, and Scripts to name a few.
I hope he isn't done with music

Johnny Sick How could I forget that! feel lucky I got to see them twice
Clif
I envy you.
Tell me, they are as wild as on record?
as posted on 1.0, Trader Horne- Morning Way, today: Fairport-Liege and lief, another from a bit back: Fresh maggots- s/t. Give me the cream somebody, school me Ruby, you've got the advantage of familarity with my taste and this swath of stuff right?
11th hour stubble been jamming Liege and Leaf a lot lately as well as Sandy Denny “Sandy”. Suitable winter listening.
Johnny Sick They were amazing. I recorded their Hozac Blackout set. Maybe I will try and transfer that and throw it up here this week.
Mystery_Ship have you heard the other 2 I mentioned? curious whatchya think... Trader Horne has it's charm but wasn't as rousing as I had hoped after hearing a coupla tunes a friend showed me.
Clif
Great!
I will wait for him like a child waiting for Santa Claus.
I've been listening a lot of Misfits, the older I get the more I dig the singles and Legacy of Brutality / Static Age.
Also as well Bob Dylan - the times they are a-changin. I bought a cheap second hand copy and I have listen to it a ton. Cool tracks and nice vibe.
11th hour stubble You try Sprigins of Tolgus yet?
Dr. Strangely Strange? Stone Angel? Mr. Fox? COB??? It all depends on how freaky you want to get.
My favs are the big names though, none of which is overly freaky but they're certainly easier to find.. Sandy (comps are best, imo), ISB (Robin's solo career is great too), Pentangle ('Cruel Sister' is a great starter, all of John and Bert's solo albums are amazing too), Steeleye Span (especially 'Please to See the King'), anything Shirley Collins' sings on. I'll make you a tape.

I most always start the day with some jazz and coffee...
Needed some more Tapscott today - and I'll repeat myself, criminally unknown jazzbo
"Dissent or Descent"
Horace Tapscott on piano, Fred Hopkins on bass, and Ben Riley on drums
Johnny Sick fave max nordile band
11th hour stubble Fresh Maggots sounds pretty good on a first listen, cool working fuzzed out guitar parts into the genre. Not sure Trader Horne is grabbing me right off the bat.
Spinning Outrageous Cherry "Out There in the Dark" LP while prepping dinner.
Mystery_Ship haha. Gave both of these a listen today as well and had the exact same reaction.
Got a few boxes in the mail today, currently spinning this one. Classic vibes.
ugh - I've tried like 4 different youtube videos and none of them embed properly
