Mr. Flap Jaw ep. 004 - January 2025 - three parter NDW mix!

THIS IS A BIG ONE. B.c. Miller's NEU DEUTSCHE WELLE / Carducci SYSTEMATIC LIST

Back in 2018: "Working on an NDW radio broadcast for Wade T. Oberlin's show on KSER. Thinking it should start off punkier, and get funkier, and wind up industrial. LIKE THE EVOLUTION OF MAN." - well, it happened, but it wasn't presented to anyone via archive.org. Therefore it had to be done right. I also wanted to mull it all over, and pick up a couple records that were previously unavailable. Enjoy- W

the list came from Carducci's Rock and The Pop Narcotic and Fbook pal B.c. decided to go through it and present YT videos with commentary. B.c. Was an electric character around Portland who met an untimely end with fentanyl. I only knew him online but appreciated his rapid fire stream of thought that eventually became incomprehensible, then ceased.

Mr. Flap Jaw is my not-radio show that I more heavily edit, alter my voice add effects etc.

Had to try this again @peeblood

    Wade T Oberlin

radio.garden is also a good way to spend an hour or so- hearing what is playing up in YELLOWKNIFE, or Svalbard, or Australia, or howsabout Ukraine, Chile… or Marion, Ohio, home of “The Talking Place” which takes live calls still, last I checked?

I have a show on KAOS 89.3 FM out of Olympia on Fridays at 5pm PST. You can stream it online on Radio Garden and a few other places too.

    Some recent playlists:

Jack H saw this via Eddie Flowers! Will find a block of time for it.

jm went back to a 2016 mix and was gifted with “The Four Horsemen”- yowza

peeblood A rough list is on the archive page pertaining to track order, and every disc from the list is on there- I’m having trouble posting pics here in 2.0 but lemme see if this will work: ![https://ibb.co/9TtS2c6](https://)

Generic Record Reviews kickin along at GRRAWR on mixcloud -- https://www.mixcloud.com/grrawr/ -- run by Giacomo from Sentiero Futuro Autoproduzioni collective, and used to be a tumblr/instagram type blog which also ruled

Radio Dies Screaming too, ex-Dynamite Hemmorage in radio show format, good breadth of sounds and ideas like GRRAWR, almost never get bogged down in one vibe or anything

      Oh, here I am again.

An e-pal on The Richard Meltzer Fanclub who lives in the UK has hipped me to radioechoes.com- it has gotten me through many a doldrum since all these winter storms hit.

Stuff I’ve heard so far includes The Ebb Tide (Robert Louis Stevenson story), Dragnet (you know it), Outbreak Of Fear (v cool 5-part mystery), and Secrets of Scotland Yard.

Dose yourself with something and press play.

      DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE!!!
Every Monday night at 8pm (Pacific)

We spin 70s obscuro-punk from all over the world, 80s DIY synth projects, glam, new wave, and garage. Nue Deutsche Welle and La Movida fans in the chat won't be disappointed. We try to pepper the show with new and local tracks that catch our ear. One of the few spots in the states to hear modern Australian underground.

We love it when people tune in live, that's at 107.1FM or 91.1FM in Portland. You can also stream live at xray.fm

One great thing about XRAY is their archive is easy to use and has up-to-date set lists. Listen to hours of our shows here:

moodymcphatter Melted Radio is one of my favorites too. Also, Head East on Sunday nights, Spirit of 79 on Mondays, and Morning Remorse on Thursdays. So many great DJs on xray.fm

Been enjoying Heavenly Pop Hits on Austin's KOOP and yeah sure it's partly because they played my music and that means a lot to me, BUT more importantly Nick has solid eclectic taste and packs an hour with the goods.

I have a couple shows (Wednesday and Sunday evenings) on radio3hive.com.

moodymcphatter my alma mater! i didn't know kryssi was on there now, that's rad. cool lil wingnut radio station.

i now do a show usually on saturdays 8-11 on wprb in princeton nj. first 2 hours are themed with music from as many genres as i can muster and the last hour is freeform and usually mostly new music and mostly somewhere in the realm of punk.

i started 11 years ago on wxoj!

i dunno if this is the place for this but i'd love to have a place for radio stories/discussion as well as just plugging shows. i'll either start a thread or start telling stories in this one when i have a minute.

erika abwarts getting a lot of play this month! I’ll save the rest for a commute

Great show! Especially loved this one, totally unfamiliar to me:

Ajay Sagar's shows are great for those who like the more spaced/psychedelic side of things:
        https://www.mixcloud.com/ajaysaggar/

Eleni Poulou's shows on Stegi and Cashmere Radio:
        https://stegi.radio/artist/eleni-poulou
        https://cashmereradio.com/shows/elope/

Have also come to rely heavily on Jim "the Hound" Marshall's old shows for the workplace:
        https://thehoundnyc.com/

And Brian Turner, of course (his Fall special last week was especially great).

Josh Awww—thanks, man! Glad folks still enjoy it. I’m slowly working on a new ep, which I hope to get out sometime this week!

But, yes, everyone listen to Erika’s MRR show. Real good shit!

spend a lot of time playing singles down in the basement so decided to start making the occasional radio show of whatever I'm currently listening to. Just posted the latest one this morning

sokeripupu Oh thanks, that is great news, will check out your show! Radio is still my go to way of learning about music... Always a thrill to play live on air too still-- I did that on Valley Free a bit ago, with improvised additions from Kryssi and her husband Tony on bells, shakers and flute ☺️

I recommend the Louis Stevenson story The Ebb Tide and Outbreak Of Fear- Brit based radio archive. Good radio drama productions were still happening there all the way up till like the mid eighties to 90s. Heck what do I know, maybe beyond…

But it has stuff like Dragnet on there too.

        https://radioechoes.com/

really enjoying these radio mixes, thanks heaps for the links..

i'm gonna start doing a radio/pod program with new stuff soon via the BH substack actually, something i've wanted to do for a long time to try teach myself how to DIY audio stuff properly.. but if u have anything new to recommend (ur own or others) please feel free to DM them thru here, or email to max@barelyhuman.info - finding heaps of unexpected stuff through these forums already, so can hopefully pass those discoveries on via the showwww

TONIGHT!!! Down the Rabbit Hole is beaming out LIVE from Xray's underground bunker, with another hour of musical mayhem!! We are jamming our record crates full of synth oddities, noisy new wave, and blistering punk. Rabbits Unite!!!

Here's a preview of my February new releases playlist. "Preview" because the month isn't over yet. Starts out with the song that defines this month in this corner of the punk-web-ring: "Fight On The Internet" by Wesley & The Boys.
