Mystery_Ship yep! Going thru his most recent book of screenplays now too. I think he originally wanted Travis of ONO to be the lead, but Kool Keith stepped in. I’ll take it!

He's playing down the street from me next week. I'm on the fence about going. I saw him once maybe 15 years ago. He deliberately waited until about a half hour before the club closed to come on stage, and showed up with no DJ and no music. He had to borrow one of his own CDs from the audience and then rap along to it. It was super strange, but then again, it's Kool Keith so I don't know what I expected. I'll admit his freestyling was great, but it didn't quite make up for forcing everyone to stand around for three hours waiting for him to perform. The only saving grace was that DJ Qbert opened for him and was incredible. However Qbert only had like an hour set, hence the long break.

Worth adding that the upcoming show has like 8 other acts for some reason, none of whom I'm interested in. But I can kinda picture him doing the same thing - waiting until the last second and then performing for 15 minutes and leaving. Curious if anyone has seen him recently that can say otherwise.

Saw him on the Spankmaster tour in like 2001 and it was great. He threw out fried chicken to the crowd. My parents tore up the Spankmaster poster when I got home.

Most rap shows are terrible and not worth seeing, especially now. They all just lip sync and yell the chorus parts from songs in one big 20 minute medley.

I think the last hip hop show I went to was GZA, maybe a year ago, and he had a live band. ODB's brother was the drummer. It ruled. 100% recommend.

Most of the hip hop shows I've been to were really good. I wouldn't say I go to a lot so maybe I'm cherry picking the good ones to attend. Kool Keith was the major standout as being kinda disappointing. Once he got going it was great - just wish he had performed on time and came actually prepared with a DJ and shit.

Saw him play a few years back and it was garbage. He was 1.5 hours late, rapped liked 1 verse and the chorus to a bunch of his songs for 30 mins, then “freestyled” the same 5 bars with his hype man for another hour plus. He kept going until 90% of the crowd walked out. I couldn’t listen to his music for probably a year after that show. Took me a while but I eventually got back into listening to him again. He still rules and I’d probably go see him again if it was cheap and convenient.

Also saw Murs a couple weeks back on his current tour. It was a good time

There are nine million girls with weaves
With bald heads, braids get sweaty in nine months
    Punks start stinking

Sid_Delicious nice. didn't know Murs was still around. I was really into DefJux for a minute way back when. Is Mr. Lif up to anything these days?

      Two-thousand extreme with space chandeliers
      I mean rugs
I mean just everything all over the carpet

Al Dorado it’s his last tour so he played shit from his whole career which was sick. Saw him in Tucson and I guess he’s lived in here on and off since the early 2000s so people really showed up. Great show. I think Mr. Lif played Tucson a few years back but I didn’t catch him. Caught Can Ox on their last tour though.
