Ain’t gonna lie — Pussy Galore changed my life. I will always be Jon guy. Last night’s show though was unexpected. That was Jon Spencer as no wave blues POWER TRIO. The explosion leveled up. Blistering. In the words of a friend, “They leveled Dante’s.”

Jon Spencer
Collate
Dante’s in Portland, OR

His rhythm section is unreal. I asked him who they were when I first saw them and he informed me they're 1/2 of the Bobby Lees. Then I got the Bobby Lees album Jon produced -- goddamn! They do a terrific celebration of Pussy Galore and they're like early 20s kids.

Really bummed I didn’t go last night. Heading to Nashville for Pelicans practice/ pre retreat show and didn’t want to risk getting sick beforehand

Jon was great, Collate too.

I loved that little pep talk Jon gave at the end. Inspiring stuff in these dark times!

Puppet Wipes playing with him tomorrow evening really looking forward to it!

They rocked. He covered “The Power of Independent Trucking” from songs about fucking. I nearly died.

He played with Heavy Trash at a venue I worked at a bunch of years ago. They were supporting the Legendary Coffin Shakers. It seemed the world upside down, which some of the members of that band said as well. I don't remember anything about the Heavy Trash set, but Jon and the drummer seemed really laidback and nice people. Jon gave me a free shirt, which is probably the only shirt I was ever given that I actually appreciated - plenty of promotional company junk.
It is pretty crazy the man is still making records and doing shows all over the world, pressing on in the margins of (underground) rock music. Then again, that's how it goes, I guess. More power to him.

I really think it’s awesome he’s still in tune with what is going on and is getting really good bands to open for him. Still bummed I missed Portland

Lammie We saw The Blues Explosion in Auckland when we lived there (2010-2011). The only time I saw Jon Spencer. Chatted very briefly with him as we walked out the club. Nice guy.

Saw him (with Cheater Slicks opening) at the Middle East in 93 or 94. My friend and I had driven all the way from CT for the show only to learn at the door that the show was sold out. Luckily, Judah Bauer was eating within earshot. Homie got up from his meal, came over, asked for our names then asked the door guy to put us on the list. Fucking COOL DUDE.

Then they fucking destroyed the place. Definitely way up on my list of best shows I’ve seen.

Cool to hear he’s still at it.

Ty fucking Wagner singing No Count with Jon and band

I didn't really like his last Hitmakers record all that much. I have yet to hear the Bobby Lee's one, although I will probably give it a listen at some point. however, Jon spencer still totally delivers live.

Nathan Loud I'm not sure I can do it justice, but the gist:
It's a beautiful world full of beautiful people, and we need to fight for it.

Delivered in RocknRoll street preacher voice

we played with him in montreal, qc and ottawa, he was totally sweet to us. First time was with the hitmakers and the other two were with the younger backing band, those shows were great (the first was also over sold and just sardine can bad trip).

it all came about cause he saw a rather fucked show in kingston where he was 1 of 10 people. I couldn't tune my guitar and i had a fever, we showed up late and were whisked on stage direct. Later when he reached out i said i would bring a tuner this time and he said not to bother as he liked that part of the show.

the guy's stamina is pretty insane. the band is hot.
