I am planning a trip to England in July. Would love play a couple shows there. Most likely solo (but I am open to other arrangements!).

Does anyone have any suggestions for venues (friendly to DIY) and bands to get in touch with?

My band is The Spatulas.

I only moved across the pond a year ago so I don't really know what's what yet but for London maybe check out heatwavemagazine on instagram. Also the Another Subculture person posts on the see-saw forums, I don't get the impression that they book shows but maybe can put you in the right direction.

For Bristol maybe check out the Specialist Subject / shittyfuturespresents / bristolspop folks.

Sheffield also seems pretty happening - maybe check out deliciousclamstagram.

Brighton seems to be another hub - not sure who's booking there but I get advertised a lot of stuff at the Hope & Ruin.

Cambridge, where I'm based, has Crushing Death & Grief, which is a bit more on the avant/noisey side. There's not really a big DIY scene here.

Will do some research on these hot tips, THANKS! Definitely planning on London, York, Oxford and/or Newcastle as well...

Lubber Fiend is the place for you in Newcastle. Smirk, Alien Nosejob and Pyrex have played there since it's been open, of the Total Punk bands. I was there tonight to see Negative Gears. Good people, good venue. Gimme a nudge if you make it up here!

Allez Al Cool, I hit Lubber Fiend up -- Thanks! Will let you know if I end up playing. What record store are you working at there? We'll stop in!

i love Another Subculture guy! I met him at the final Not Dead Yet fest, definitely recommend hitting him up to help.. true DIY spirit which seems hard to find in UK/EU these days since whenever the booking agent paradigm took over the DIY networks???

I work at Beatdown, just over the road from the station. Please say hi!
