I know a Portland record store thread has been started but figured this would be a good all around Portland thread. Places to eat, dive bars, vintage store, record stores, movie theaters.... I'll add some stuff later but if you have some Portland recs for out of towners and in towners alike post them here
PORTLAND THREAD
Turn turn turn. Best venue.
Florida room. For some reason I love this place. Veggie burger. Smoking outside zone is great.
Spielman bagels. Coffee and bagels. Important to support. Owned by/employs the best bands of Portland for past decade: Lox, Mope Grooves, Shop Regulars etc.
Spare Room is fantastic for bingo and karaoke and I miss the $5 lunch special (blt, fries, and orange slices!)

still haven't been there. I know they. have the occasional show. Would really like to book something there
1800benparrish Spare Room rules! My band has played there twice and it was a blast both times!
Randall I’ve put on a few shows. You have to bring mics and provide a sound person but they supply a door person and give you all the cash. Awesome deal if you have the right bill.
1800benparrish ask about the mystery shots!
I have a slew of Dive Bars I love in Portland. Most recently though I have been digging Sad Valley. They have been really cool and very sweet folks. Great happy hour prices and some cool pinball machines. When other bars are busy I seem to be able to get in there pretty quick. They are always showing some weirdo fucked up movies on the t.v. which is always kind of a hoot! They are now statring to book some DJ's so I will have to check that out.
Nathan Loud The one show I saw there was fun.
Spare Room karaoke with Rockin Raymond is a must.
Rockin Raymond is the best!
I've been going to Spare Room for 25 years and it has barely changed since then. They have shows every weekend and I still pop in fairly often for random cover bands or blues. Larry & Teri used to play weekly 20+ years ago and it was amazing.
Joel Jett Most recently though I have been digging Sad Valley.
Made it in there a couple of months ago for the first time. It was a Saturday night and we were the only ones there. I felt bad for them because the space is great and so was the staff. Maybe it was just an off night. For their sake, I hope the DJs start packing the place, but if it was packed I'd probably just grow to hate it.
I know many people hate on those dudes that convert all them old dive bars, but I still love Lay Low, Holman's, the Sandy Jug and Sandy Hut. But I rarely go to bars past happy hour these days and may hate some of these spots if I had to see who was crowding into them in the later hours.

Petey J. Cool yeah I’ve mainly been in Lay Low during the day but I really like it. Sandy Hut on a Friday night not so much, but that’s more about me
Lincoln and I are emerging from our snow cave tonight! If you've got cabin fever too, come on down. Also, don't be shy. We know a lot of the PDX people in this forum, but even if we don't, come say Hi!
DJ Alice Wonder is this a recurring third-satudays type deal? Would love to go, but can’t make it tonight!
filthqueen666 It's exactly a third Saturday type deal Would love to nerd out about music with you- Next time!
