The opposite of a popular thead posted recently, though I wonder if some of the bands will cross over. What are the bands you get ragged on for enjoying?

Here are mine:

  • The Clash. I will never forgive some of you for the hate campaign against the clash circa 2011. I love them.

  • U2. I love War. The record, not the activity.

  • I’m sure there are many others. I finally listened to the Olivia Rodrigo album sour. It was pretty good I thought.

Smash Mouth! Never listened to any of their albums but I will always defend them as the best of all the shitty post-grunge top 40 radio bands of the 90s!

I also have a sickening fascination with the “bro country” shit that Nashville has been churning out for the last 10-15 years. How many songs can be written about cold beer and pickup trucks? We seem to have exceeded the theoretical maximum many years ago and are openly mocking the laws of science at this point.

I will once again, since the demise of Forum 1.0, declare my love of nu-metal which left an influence that seems to no longer be shied away from in recent punk and hardcore bands (MSPAINT? Show Me the Body? Total nu-metal). Limp Bizkit and Slipknot are pit engineers, technicians of mosh who know exactly how to make people go nuts. Plus it was my gateway into heavier more underground stuff (much like Green Day and The Offspring were my gateway into more underground punk and I'm not ashamed).

I also enjoy a lot of post Green Album Weezer.

I also grew up as nu metal being my primary exposure to heavy music via Ozzfest 1998 - however, not much of it holds up for me these days aside from maybe Roots-era Sepultura, Fear Factory, and Ten Ton Hammer-era Machinehead. And this makes sense because I hate both MS Paint and SMTB lol.

At the same time, my answer via Forum 1.0 was psychobilly/rockabilly.

Fear Factory rules and yeah Max Cavalera's nu-metal era was big for me. My first concert was Soulfly! Hatebreed and Neurosis opened. I was terrified.

I remember seeing this tour mention on the local venue site. Similarly, my first one was Fear Factory/System of a Down/Hed pe/Spineshank

Rancid, Green Day, White Zombie and Smashing Pumpkins were big gateway bands for me and I still like them all

to name but a few...minutemen, pavement, dead moon apparently

the pavement thing is funny, once on a drive with Simps Westcoast feat. Rich I tried to put wowee zowee on for my captive audience, in 10 mins everyone was asleep, when they woke up, they didn't love pavemnt. they are pretty good, you should give em a try.

I warned you before hand. Also I think I was asleep within the first 10 seconds so they didn’t get a fair shake.

11th hour stubble Pavement finally clicked for me in the last year or two, “Watery, Domestic” being the record that did it.

The Dead Moon dislike is deranged.

Mystery_Ship watery domestic is their best record. I’ve been a super fan for many years and it feels like more people do like them now (besides rich)

When I drive Della to the library today I’ll give this a spin. Hopefully it doesn’t make me dose off behind the wheel

I don't think there'd be too much R.E.M. love on here but I'm a huge fan. All periods.

First four or so Screeching Weasel albums hold up for me. Avail, Dillinger Four, early Samiam, Swingin' Utters - I like 'em.

UFO rule, more soulful than most of the hard rock of that era. Some of it almost sounds like Maggot Brain. First Chicago (Transit Authority) LP too.

Hip-hop-wise I really like Earl Sweatshirt despite liking almost none of his contemporaries.

1980s Rod Stewart. I’ve also always really love Harry Connick Jr. Also Drum n bass / Jungle.

                Love R.E.M.

for me it's Zappa. All the Mothers (pre-Toitles- "flo & eddie" - PUKE!!) stuff is great, even Ruben & the Jets. but I understand the hate; Frank sucks and must have been awful to be around. Must've smelled so bad too. Most of the humor is not funny and is just annoying.

                YES
                Boston (all tracks)
                prog rock in general

likewise to a lot of the above... as much as they annoy me as people, REM's Green was the first CD i ever bought.. Smashing Pumpkins too, somehow made peace with the fact that Corgan's kind of a parody of himself haha. dunno why, but i listened to Green Day's Dookie for the first time since i was a teenager a little while back.. knew every word and didn't even hate it!

Allez Al I don't think there'd be too much R.E.M. love on here but I'm a huge fan. All periods.

I'm a Chronic Town and IRS years kinda brat then I pick and choose on some later tracks.
