I love everything to come out of the CRUELSTER universe, and this will now be my fifth release to come out of this camp! THE CARP is PERVERTS AGAIN (mins Alex) giving a nod to street punk and OI! with their peculiar twist on it. We just dropped the second single yesterday and the album comes out July 10th. They are being shipped to me Monday so preorders will start shipping as soon as they arrive.

Our favorite fishy boot boys, THE CARP, are back with their sophomore LP, offering up more working class street punk through the skewed musical lens of '3/5ths of The Kids Who Brought You Cruelster.' While Knowso, the other project Nathan Ward fronts, tends to veer towards abstract ruminations on the absurd mundanity of our broken world, The Carp is much more politically direct. Dispensing with any kind of opaqueness at all on the gang chanted refrain of the album's second single, the aptly titled 'Fuck Alex Karp.' A common man screed against the American billionaire and Palantir CEO. Their 2024 debut 'Knock Your Block Off' perfectly captured that moment in time, and the follow up really speaks to this current moment. In a cultural descent which seems to have no bottom, the present situation is even more terrifying than one could have imagined just two years ago. The Carp speak to this reality and ask the big question... what's your place in this world? 'If you can't attract attention and your hands are in your pockets well then nothin's gonna stop nothin!' "Cleveland punks Nathan Ward, Jo Coone, and Michael Gill—famously/infamously of Cruelster and Perverts Again—are back with a new album from their band the Carp. It’s a fucking show-stopper—a record that balances raw power street punk shit with shout-along anthemic Oi! pop. To fully understand this record’s urgency, you’ve got to listen to what they’re either shouting or delivering in a steely-gazed deadpan. Their diss track about Palantir CEO Alex Karp is fucking phenomenal, and this bar legitimately made me laugh out loud: “Fuck Alex Karp, he’s got a psychotic motive/He’s exactly who you don’t want to be sharing a globe with.”

At this point in their illustrious discography beneath the umbrella of multiple projects, there’s this unspoken guarantee from the Cleveland crew that you’ll have moments where you laugh and others where you shout along. Their subjects, walked to their most extreme potential conclusion, are top-of-mind out here in the Midwest. The Carp’s Tangled Up With the Two Tailed Rat insert reads like a hand-scrawled manifesto that amplifies the urgent need to fight back.

When they begin their recruitment campaign on “Fish Militia,” their first objective is to destroy all the data centers popping up on farmland while remaining deep underground. They’re languishing in the gutter with a worthless 401k while their home city is being purchased by billionaires. Their Ramones flip “GPT did a job on me/now I am a real sickie” is the 2026 punk rock Rosetta Stone.
