What’s your method for getting rid of old unwanted records?

I went though phases of buying… frankly… shit records that I can’t see any store wanting now. I’ve been trying to clear them out so I can start buying en masse again after a few years of not buying much.

Is discogs my best option? Is it worth the effort or should I just drop them off at a thrift store?

Shit, as in shit quality or shit artists? Do u have some examples?

filthqueen666 depends on what it is. I would divide into two groups. Things you think people could possibly want and the stuff you know is a bust. Would check some of the things in the possible pile on discogs to see if any of them are worth posting and then the hassle of shipping. If it doesn’t seem worth it either post up at a yard sale or take the entire pile to a thrift store. I need to do this as well.

sicboy it’s a little bit of both. Like, I have a scratched up copy of a Damaged Bug record I’d probably have to list as Fair on discogs at best. And I have old stuff that I don’t see anyone wanting to buy for more than like 5 dollars, like Autobahn. Lol. So, I’m trying to decide what’s worth my effort knowing that won’t actually make any money.

Randall good advice. Thank you Randall. I’m probably due for a yard sale other crap too.

I would buy a Kraftwerk record for five bucks.

Also you could do a weird art project with them. Like you can melt records in the oven to make bowls, for example. Who wouldn’t want to eat popcorn out of Frampton Comes Alive!?

I’ve sold a couple lots of unwanted slabs on Marketplace in the last while, and more or less painless experiences. I don’t have a decent shop for trading stuff in where I’m at, so seems like the best option.

I just sold some old late 90’s/early 2000’s ‘rawk’ shit like The Hellacopters, Glucifer, Backyard Babies, Mooney Suzuki, Von Bondies…so glad to purge that crap. The thing is, I was SURPRISED by the amount people in Europe who are willing to pay tops for it!! I sold two Hellacopters LPs for just shy of $400!! 🫨
